The Hag of Beecroft A fatherless boy, and a beautiful girl with a big secret who moves in next door, receive supernatural help from an elderly resident of the local senior citizens' home as they fend off bullies, dealers and rednecks in their tough neighborhood. ► Young-Adult Fantasy Horror (Rated PG-13) ► 97-page feature screenplay (also formatted as 60-minute pilots) ► 4-page synopsis ► $2+ million budget ► © 2010-2022 This screenplay is the 1st in a series of (so far) five campfire-creepy coming-of-age stories in which my mixed-race, pre-adolescent heroes deal with baddies both of the human kind (bullies, dealers and bigots) and paranormal kind (magic, myth and monsters): As if poverty in a tough neighborhood isn’t bad enough! Set somewhere between "Harry Potter" (but at about 1/25th of the budget) and “Let Me In/Let the Right One In” (but not as gory), this series is suitable for the tweens and up crowd and could generate gigabytes of social media. And, like many stories that feature youngsters as the pivotal characters, you can cast some serious performers in the adult roles to enhance the appeal to mature audiences. But note, the stories are NOT appropriate for VERY young kids. For example, when the little old witch does her witchy thing on the bad guys, it could scare children away from their grandmother! As well, some serious issues are exposed, obliquely or head-on throughout the stories, just like in real life: Racism, drugs, death, etc. Locations: School, nursing home, apartment building, all set in a poorer area of town. The "Beecroft" series so far, with dream cast suggestions: (Also available as one-hour Pilot + nine Episodes + Full Bible) Part 1: The Hag of Beecroft (97pp): Maggie Smith Part 2: The Vampyre of Beecroft (104pp): Helena Bonham Carter, Winona Ryder or Rose Byrne Part 3: The Rougarou of Beecroft (102pp): Ian McKellen Part 4: The Boogieman of Beecroft (98pp): Ron Perlman or Tom Noonan Part 5: The Fortune Teller of Beecroft (104pp): Angela Bassett Buy the Kindle version of the full series at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B010KYHRJM Note: The entire series achieved 'Nominee' status (equivalent to 'Finalist') in the Swedish International Film Festival (submitted April-July) 2022, and The Vampyre of Beecroft was declared the overall Winner for July! |
