Series title: The Newells

Series premise: Ordinary suburban parents with dreams of a better life have two intriguing children - are the kids' magical experiences imaginary or real?

Pilot title: The Creaking Floorboard

Pilot description: A young brother and sister try to out-scare one another with bedtime fables, to prove who is the more irresponsible of the two.

If the floorboard outside your room creaks after midnight, it may be the monster that lives in the antique wardrobe down the hall, as it waits to take away any kids who deny their sleep!

And if that isn’t scary enough: How about a neighbor’s tree house, or a fanciful wish at a campfire, or a popular eatery at the mall?

Those don’t sound very scary.

But wait: Just why does old Mrs. McGillicuddy have a tree house? And what does hot breath have to do with a runny nose? And what exactly do they serve at this eatery?

Because as two special siblings - precocious, by-the-book 10-year-old Alexa and street-smart 12-year-old Bobby - try to spook each other with nightmarish allegories, a malevolent force may be watching, listening and judging from just outside their bedroom door.

It’s time to grow up, kids. Or time to become the menu!

Producers: It is expected that the stories that the kids tell each other would be animated in some fashion, because they're so elaborate.  With this in mind, a great choice for director would be Terry Gilliam.

Major Characters/Casting Possibilities:

Alexa, 10 years; her brother Bobby, 12
Parents Mom (Judith), 40, And Dad (Duane), 45
